The article examines the role of land management as a strategic instrument for implementing the national development goals of the Russian Federation until 2030. It is emphasised that effective planning and organisation of rational land use are crucial for achieving key technological, socio economic and environmental objectives in the agricultural sector, including sustainable and spatial development of rural areas, food security and protection of natural resources. Based on the analysis conducted, the paper proposes measures to improve land management, encompassing: land management support for the unified national strategy; development of efficient land use; implementation of cadastral activities; land monitoring; digitalisation of design and survey work in land management; and addressing environmental protection tasks. Special attention is given to the integration of scientifically grounded land management solutions into long term strategic planning, as well as to the use of state land information systems as the foundation for organising rational land use. The article concludes that enhancing land management is not merely a technical task but also an important institutional mechanism for aligning land policy with the national priorities for economic development. The proposed measures contribute to increasing the efficiency of land resource use, supporting sustainable development and achieving the country’s strategic goals. The research findings are relevant for public administration bodies, land management specialists, real estate cadastre professionals and researchers in the fields of environmental economics and public administration.
