The purpose of the article is to analyze the existing modern methods and approaches for evaluating the efficiency of mining in conditions of economic instability and variability of the market environment. The availability of minerals in any state is the cornerstone of economic power and place in the global community of states. The mineral resource complex determines not only the current capabilities of the country, but also its potential for future development in all spheres of the economy. The article analyzes the current state of the exploration industry and assesses the legal support for geological exploration and geological and economic assessment. Based on the analysis, the main problems of conducting a geological and economic assessment of mineral deposits were identified.
