HR planning is the most important element of HR management (especially in industrial production) and has a direct impact on the efficiency of production processes. Theoretical and methodological foundations of HR planning, as a set of principles, methods and tools, are the initial basis for strategic HR management. Their use in HR management practice allows for long-term compliance of HR potential with the needs of industrial enterprises. The paper reveals the place of HR planning in the HR management system, systematizes the basic terminology, considers the directions and components of HR planning in the context of the specific functioning of industrial enterprises. The object of the study is the HR planning system. The purpose of the study is to generalize the basics of HR planning at industrial enterprises. Research methods: documentary analysis, systematization, induction, deduction. Scientific novelty of the research: development of conceptual approaches to personnel planning taking into account the specifics of industry as a sector, clarification of theoretical provisions, author's formulation of individual terms.
